Str. City of Cleveland III Vintage Souvenir Pennant c1952
My father came from a large family, and I had lots of cousins. Dad's one brother, however, was childless but loved children. My uncle would take his nieces and nephews, singly or in groups of three or four, on special outings. My turn for a single outing came when he invited me to see a double-header baseball game between the Cleveland Indians and (if I remember the other team, I'll update this page). This was a great trip. First, I got to take a train ride alone for the 30 miles to the town he lived in, and then by car the 150 miles to Cleveland. We saw some sites, went to the ball game, spent the night in a downtown hotel, and returned home the next day.
Condition: Very good. I used this as the holder for my Pep Pin and other pinback collection (see Pep Pins under Collectibles, also for sale), and there are several visible but tiny holes and a couple of minor rust spots in a couple of letters and on the side of the steamer. Also there is a small dark spot to the left of the "S", visible in the close-up, that may have been a defect in the original manufacture.
