Post WW I Bonus March Era?
#A0496: c1932. I can't be 100% sure what I'm seeing here. I know this is the South Lawn of the White House, and I know my great uncle, who passed away at age 98 about 1999, was a WW I veteran in D.C. and participated in the Veterans' Bonus March in 1932. I think it's President Herbert Hoover with active-duty troops, possibly led by Gen. D. MacAurthur, and taken about the time of the Veterans' Bonus March--a distinctly dismal chapter in U.S. history. MacAurthur commanded the active-duty troops Hoover ordered to remove the veterans. They burned "Hooverville", the tent city the vets erected on the Mall, and then charged into the vets with bayonets, driving them away.
