Japanese Occupation Currency Japanese Occupation Currency
#A0957

We offer sets of three bills of the Malayasian Occupation Currency issued by the Japanese during World War II. The currency was issued without serial numbers, and to this day no one, including the Japanese, knows how much was printed.

The one dollar bill measures 5.5" x 2.5", two dollars 6" x 2-3/4", and ten dollars 6-1/4" x 3". The reverse of each bill is basically the same color as the face although a lighter shade. (See back of ten dollars with offer further down this page.)
The card with the uncirculated bill, which we also offer (see below), says in part:

"This is the actual banknote made by the Japanese during their occupation of Malaya during World War II. You can tell it's genuineness by the tiny little colored threads you can see running through it if you look closely.
Most of these bills were made for and used in Malaya during the occupation.
...A unique memento of history...Growing scacer and more valuable evey day."

Condition: Good, circulated

Quantity available: Sets of three are SOLD Scroll down for a single, uncirculated bill offered for sale.

Price: $20.00 set of 3 - Plus $1.75 Shipping & Handling to U.S. Address only.

Japanese Occupation Currency
World War II Unusual Souvenir

#A0306

This bill is slightly larger than modern US currency. The print is gray on a light beige background, it does not have the multi-colored hue as seen in the scan. Mint condition.

Reverse--light green print.

In case you can't read the green card above the bill, it says:

This is the actual banknote made by the Japanese during their occupation of Malaya during World War II. You can tell it's genuineness by the tiny little colored threads you can see running through it if you look closely.
Most of these bills were made for and used in Malaya during the occupation but a large cache of them - from which yours came - were found stored away in perfect, unused condition.
It was little know (sic) then but Japan and Germany had signed a formal agreement to divide the United States up between them when they won the war. Many people felt that this bill was the prototype of the one the Japanese hoped to use right here in the U.S. when that happened...      As the war progressed, the Japanese dream crumbled. When they were driven out of Malaya, these unused, uncirculated bills were found - the very same ones you have here...
...A unique memento of history...Growing scacer and more valuable evey day.
