Microsoft 10/100 Ethernet Wired Base Station
Microsoft© Broadband Networking Wired Base Station | MN-100
This like new base station was used for about one month. I have a newer Pentium IV and an older Pentium I computer, but was too dumb to listen when they said the older computer didn't have the speed or capacity to handle a LAN card. I went ahead and set up this base station on my newer computer and DSL connection, then installed the LAN card in the older computer. They were right, the older computer couldn't handle it. :-(
Includes: Setup CD ROM, Wired Base Station, Detachable Base Station Stand, Ethernet Cable, Blank Floppy Disk, Power Supply, User's Guide, and Start Here Guide. Uses your existing DSL Cable. (Was not going to include the 15' Ethernet Cable, but since I photographed it with the rest, I'll throw it in as a FREE bonus!--I was going to ask $9.95 for it.)
System Requirements for Base Station: Computer with Etnernet network adapter; External broadband (cable, DSL, or other) modem with Ethernet port (not compatible with dial-up modems); Internet Explorer 5.0 or Netscape Navigator 4.7 or later to view and use Base Station HTML configuration screens; 120V AC power outlet.
Additional requirements for using the MS Broadband Networking setup wizard and Network Utility: PC with processor running MS Windows 98, 98 SE, Millennium Edition (Windows Me), XP Professional or XP Home Edition (Not for Macs); 28 MB of available hard-disk space, or 132 MB if you are installing Internet Explorer for the first time; 4x or faster CD ROM drive; VGA or higher-resolution monitor; and a mouse and 3.5" high-density disk drive are recommended. -- PHEW!
To make a long story short, the newer computer, this base station and my DSL modem all worked fine together. I used it with a Pentium IV computer, 2.06Ghz, DSL modem supplied by my DSL provider, and Windows XP Home. The LAN card is listed separately for sale.
Installation and setup not for the fainthearted. Click this WARNING!
I paid $79.99 retail for this, and other than using it for about a month, I wrote the Base Station password on the Start Here guide and CD-ROM jacket; otherwise it's like new and in original box.
